GMC 7494518 — Registered Medical Practitioner (GP)
Prof Dmitry Pshezhetskiy is a medical doctor and scientist whose work focuses on understanding and treating Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) and related post-viral conditions, including Long COVID. He leads research at the University of East Anglia exploring how inflammation and the immune system affect energy production and recovery in these illnesses. Alongside his academic work, Prof Pshezhetskiy is a Specialist Doctor at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust, where he helps diagnose and manage patients living with ME/CFS.
His dual role as a clinician and researcher allows him to connect real-world patient experiences with cutting-edge science, aiming to develop better diagnostic tests and targeted treatments. Previously, Prof Pshezhetskiy has worked in cancer and inflammatory disease research, leading international collaborations and clinical studies. He is passionate about translating laboratory discoveries into therapies that can genuinely improve patients’ lives and about raising awareness of ME/CFS as a serious and biologically driven condition.
